Combination Boiler

Regular Boilers

These are also known as heat only boilers. These boilers provide heat directly to the radiators and works with a cylinder to provide hot water. This type of boiler requires two tanks in the loft and a hot water cylinder to run effectively. The first tank is the cold-water tank, it fills from the mains water supply and this water is heated in the hot water cylinder to supply your taps and shower heads. This is the simplest type of boiler and work well with old radiators and are an economical type of boiler to buy.

System Boilers

A system boiler heats the central heating system and produces hot water for storage cylinder. System boilers work in the same way as a regular combination boiler (they store hot water) however, system boilers take their water supply directly from the mains. The water is heated via a heat exchanger, once heated, the water is pumped to the hot water cylinder, where it is stored until required. This means they are more compact than combination boilers, but they can still deliver a high volume of domestic hot water. Good for properties that have a high-water demand (multiple bathrooms) and offer good cover from boiler manufacturer as many of the systems components are integral to the boiler.
